About The Book
All Purpose
Letters to Josephine is a heartfelt and deeply personal tribute by Jo Ann Chernushek to her beloved mother, Josephine—a woman of strength, resilience, and grace. Through a collection of reflective letters and memories, Jo Ann captures the essence of a daughter’s love, grief, and enduring admiration.
Within these pages, Jo Ann not only mourns the loss of her mother but also honors the lessons Josephine imparted: to live fully, to laugh daily, and to measure life not by its length, but by its richness and meaning. Letters to Josephine stands as a testament to the quiet power of love, memory, and a daughter’s promise never to forget.
Trailblazer and Avant-Garde: Toly A.K. Invites Readers Into His State of Mind in His Published Work, The Book
Apostoly Peter Kouroumalis, known by his pen name Toly A.K., is an avant-garde artist who paves the way for the outlandish and unconventional. Whether through music, video, or photography, Toly A.K. shines a dim light on the absurdities of daily existence. The Book showcases the kind of extreme lowbrow art that has become his signature.
Toly A.K. has achieved recognition with his film “Ascension,” which was screened in the Cannes short film category. His work is currently touring Canada for two years in the program “Under New Management.” His experimental films are housed at the Cinematheque Quebecois, and the Bibliothèque Nationale features some of his publications.
The Book serves as a companion to Toly A.K.’s artwork, providing a brief overview of the themes, ideas, and ideologies present in his painting, music, and film. Marked by personal tragedy—having lost his best friend in a date/rape murder—Toly A.K. channels his turmoil into art, using it as a form of expression and catharsis.
In this collection, Toly A.K. compiles some of his most provocative works. His art requires an open mind and often invites deep contemplation. These are not pieces for those who view life only at the surface; instead, Toly A.K. extends an invitation to experience the state of mind of the avant-garde.
Always raw, sometimes twisted, and often crude, Toly A.K. is a punk with a paintbrush. Through his Angerian images, dystopian diction, and malicious melodies, he reminds us that the real war is not just outside our globalized windows, but a reflection of the wildfire burning within us all. —Kraig X.
